What is the timeframe?

Classes start promptly at 10:00 and go through 10:45, giving 15 minutes to transition to our main service.

What should I bring?

Your Bible and a good attitude!

What will we do each Sunday?

Prayer –––––––––

Prayer is the act of surrendering oneself to God. Prayer is your conversation with God and is how you develop a personal, meaningful relationship with the God of the universe who loves you. It’s how He can do miracles in your heart. Through prayer, He can bring your life into alignment with His vision and plans.

When we pray, there are several things we’re seeking:

  • To Ask for Guidance
  • To Ask for Forgiveness
  • To Unlock Faith in Your Life
  • To Strengthening Your Relationship with God

In our Foundations classes, we will always open and close in prayer to signify the importance of building our personal relationships with God.

Singing a song –––––––––

Singing in worship provides an opportunity to praise and worship God. The songs we sing can serve as a prayer of thanks and an expression of commitment and can even help us with memorizing scripture. It’s important to note that the Bible never says, “let those who have beautiful voices sing,” as if natural talent were required to praise God. The Bible just says “Sing!”  Over and over, dozens of times, we are commanded to sing: sing to the Lord, sing praises, sing joyfully, sing a new song. Come into God’s presence with singing. That’s why, Each week in Foundations, we’ll be singing songs together in worship of our Lord. Songs are in a YouTube playlist called “Foundations,” found here.

Catechism –––––––––

Catechism is a tool for teaching important information using a question and answer format. That’s pretty much it.   As Christians, we use catechism to teach basic doctrine, and usually includes questions and answers on the topics of God, sin, Christ, salvation, the law, prayer, and the sacraments or ordinances. The more we know God’s written Word, the deeper our knowledge of scripture and the more solid our confidence in the Lord and His ways.

Bible Study –––––––––

It’s important to study the Bible because God’s Word guides you in the right direction in life. It lights the way ahead of you so you can see clearly which way to go. Through every season of your life, you can be confident that God is always leading you through His Word.

Bible Verses –––––––––

Memorizing Scripture and letting it dwell in us amplifies our lives. It increases our daily prayers — filling our minds with the reminder of God’s promises. It reminds us throughout our days of how we should be living — keeping us from temptation, sin and changing our attitudes to reflect Him.

Questions –––––––––

EVERYBODY should ask questions! We ask questions in order to learn more information about something, and we answer questions to provide more information. Asking and answering questions is not only a part of how we learn, but it is also a part of our social skills; we ask and answer questions to be polite and build and maintain relationships. In Foundations, we encourage all of you to ask questions when you have them.

Sword Drills –––––––––

Sword Drills help us practice memorizing where different books of the bible are within the overall book.
